If you're looking for a robotic hoovers vacuum that can also mop, this is the model you should go for. It's smaller than other models on this list which makes it easier to maneuver into tight corners and underneath furniture. It has a 220 degree Lidar that, combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, offers some of the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop navigation and object avoidance capabilities I've seen in the form of a robotic vacuum. It's powered by a 4600mAh battery which can last up to 170 minutes when mopping and sucking is set to standard mode. (It can run longer on turbo). It can even return to the dock to replenish its battery halfway through cleaning.

It's fast and does a fantastic job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums the carpeted rooms extremely quickly and hardwood floors in the living room, and hallways in a single sweep. Its 8,000pa motor is able to clean dirt as well as pet hair and droppings with ease. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the two side brushes help to tease out debris from corners.

The mopping efficiency is less impressive, but not by much. The mop rotates at a high velocity and pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scrubbing up dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arm protrudes out a bit more than other robots. This is useful in difficult corners or along baseboards. It's easy to install and works well however this is something that you'll have to be aware of when you purchase this vacuum for the sole purpose of it mopping.

It then uses this information to clean effectively and efficiently. This will ensure a thorough and consistent clean and is also rapid.

The noise levels were low and there were nice jingles to let you know that it was starting and getting its work done.

The app was too simple and you had to switch the modules every time you switched between vacuuming and mops. The app is not able to save multiple maps. This can be an issue if your home has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those who want an intelligent robot that is capable of vacuuming and mopping.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our test, but it has some distinct features that are worth taking into consideration. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its enormous dock which doubles as a charging base as well as housing for two 4-liter water tanks, a sink for cleaning and the 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically emptys.

The base also comes with a set of buttons to control the system. These allow you to start a cleaning task, automatic Vacuum cleaner and mop (go now) recall the robot, or run the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two of the buttons to toggle the child lock, which is a nice touch for parents worried about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

The Omni Omni like other robotic vacuums, uses its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path. It will avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni could occasionally become so entangled with an obstruction, such as an electrical cord dangling across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you free it. This was a rare incident however, it was a bit frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert on its app.

The X1 Omni is unable to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad except for the fact that the mopping pads aren't cleaned and dried between use and can cause mildew or mold.

On the bright side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad. It's a big departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases that are used by rivals like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing view in a market that is dominated by clunky, boxy units.
